it was £3.50 a bale off the field. Its now £4 off the field or £4.50 out of the barn collect yourself. Welsh/Hereford border.
Big round bales up here (North East Scotland) were selling for £32 a bale. I'm a farmers wife and have 2 horses. To be honest if you take in the cost of fuel and time it takes to cut dry turn and bale hay and cost of netting the farmers aren't making much of a profit trust me i kno! We made haylage last year as didnt get perfect conditions for hay. I'm in the fortunate position of if that the bales go off we can feed the rest of the bale to the cattle. Left a couple bales unwrapped to see if it made hay and it was awfull so glad we wrapped the rest. Hopefully we'll get a couple weeks great weather and we can get hay! fingers crossed pls!!!
