Hay price

My fattie gets about 6kg a night in winter after grazing all day but if in early probably another 2kg. That’s £9- 12 a day in hay or £270 - £360 a month which is absolutely extortionate. My hay bill in winter is around £60 a month.

That is either a mistake or a crazy idea, you can buy a small bale of haylage for around £6-7 which will weigh in the region of 20kg unless you are tied in to buying it from the yard, I still think it will be a mistake, then buy your own even getting small bales of haylage will be a huge saving and easy to collect and store.

I feed adlib to my liveries and cost it at about £2 per day/ £15 per week which easily covers it as one or two don't eat huge quantities.

They only let you buy it from them, I might ask if I can use my own because the one I get now is £5 for 20kg
 
Just ask and make sure its 100% £1.50 for 1kilo, cause that really is a ridiculous price even if its the best in the country (and if they are selling only from themselves they will be likely to say it is)
 
I suspect that horse hay will not be in short supply this year . Even my neighbour(who screws up every year) made good hay . They will all be seeking the premium that horse hay fetches .I suspect that while cattle hay and barley straw will go through the roof .horse owners will see little change or possibly even a reduction (if they hold their nerve and dont panic buy)
 
Holy hell, I would not be paying that and would either be buying my own in or moving if they're trying to lock you in to buying from them only!
