Hay prices

My hay supplier has run out and I'm beginning to panic. Like a lot of native owners, I feed hay throughout the summer as they come in for a break from the grass during the day.

If anyone knows of a supplier within reasonable travelling distance of HD9, please 🙏 let me know.

Oh sorry you have to go through this, hope some turns up soon

I use hay in summer for the (potential fatties)

I'm planning (once I'm down to 2 ponies) to just use small bale Timothy haylage. I might reconsider that in winter time
Have you asked on Huddersfield Horses or similar fb pages

I'm in a similar boat, it's so frustrating having masses of grass but the horses need hay

eta and where I am the Timothy haylage has run out both Marksway and other brands, and there's no blue Marksway either

We have had issues with the Country Haylage and Mole Valley own brand, being too wet and more like silage. Only last year’s batches.

Now using wrapped hay (Yeoman) which is all we can get. This week bought a week’s worth and they’re leaving it - the grass is growing properly now. I have never been so relieved!

I think this is what I'll do too. Its pricey compared to hay, but I think it'll be better for Bo's airways.
