So, wanting to replace hay with a bucket feed due to severe rao, thinking if Fast Fibre mixed with speedibeet, how much would be the equivalent of a slice of hay. I know it depends on several things, but just roughly.
Thank you!

The problem with this is, the amount of feed that replaces hay is eaten incredibly quickly when compared with hay. You would be better off with something like chopped oat straw which is cheaper and lower calories. Its not very appetising either so they only tend to eat it when they are actually hungry.

The pony lives out 24/7 so has grass, but I need to supplement this as there’s very little grass now, she can’t have hay, even soaked, or haylage, or any kind of chaff as this all makes her cough. She’s ok on soaked mush, it’s just how much soaked mush would be the equivalent of a slice of hay. As if she were didn’t cough, I’d be giving her a slice of hay am/pm.

I was just about to suggest hay cobs. I got some off Zooplus that were just hay. They soaked well and seemed palatable. They were more yellow than agrobs or similar.

Two winters ago we had a 12hh pony on loan who had no teeth so couldn't eat hay.

She was given three feeds a day of 2 large double handfuls grass chaff with a mugful of fast fibre and soaked to a sloppy mush.

It kept her in beautiful condition over the winter.

Best of luck.
