Yep 12hours to remove nutrients, 20minutes to remove dust spores and 40minutes to remove mould spores

I was told by my vet and nutritionist that I had to soak my hay for 40minutes to get rid of the dust and mould spores..

To remove the nutrients you need to soak the hay for 2 hours. Soaking for longer periods is not advisable in warm temperatures as fermentation can occur.

To remove nutrients - soak for 12 hours, to damp down for dust allergies, 20-30 mins is fine.

And if you do soak for hours to remove the nutrients, remember to rinse it off first before feeding to the horse.
