hay & storage box for steaming?

Does anyone know the measurements of a small rectangle bale of hay? And can anyone recommend a large storage box with lid that will fit the bale of hay in so we can steam the hay. At the moment we are steaming hay using haynets and a black plastic bin..which works but is very time consuming as we are steaming for 4 ponys. Any advice or tips are welcome xx
 
Wheelie bin was a disaster as bottom half of hay didn't steam. New large rectangular storage bos with lid fits 5 flaps in but isn't steaming through evenly. Have to open it half way to move it around.... Best so far has been the black plastic bin with steam plate sat in bottom. Steams four thick slices through in 50 minutes. I am still lusting over a haygain :(

I used a round one it takes a large hay net which is big enough for me, its brilliant, i got a bbq thermometer and poked it through the lid so i can see that it gets up to temperature as well, i got the old water storage container free, i bought some bungs to seal the holes i didn't need, a neighbor gave me a wall paper steamer, i payed a friend £30 to make like a stand that sits in the bottom of the tank, using the burner of an old BBQ, he drilled 6 small hole along it and put some thin metal pipe in the holes, like spikes so the steam goes up through the hay, the steamer hose connects onto that, and voila, its brilliant and it only cost me about £35.00 :-)
That probably doesn't make sense to you at all...lol
 
Wheelie bin, but either push the hose from the steamer in from the top so the end is down the bottom, and make a hole in the bottom to push the hose into. That way the steam comes out the bottom and comes out all the way through the whole container :)
 
We use a road grit bin as it has a double skin lid and latches down, hole drilled in bottom of side and copper pipe loop runs round the bottom with slits in to let the steam out all round, Earlex Professional steamer on a timer gives plenty of steam, holds 5 large nets, 6 at a push.
 
I closed the haygain website and went and bought a new steamer from Wickes this morning 23.99. Worked a treat today! A LOT of steam!
