hay storage ideas?!

Hey everyone,

Just wondered if anyone had any bright spark ideas to minimise hay wastage for a yard that unfortunately does have to have them outside. Luckily we get through round bales quick enough to not waste a huge amount but in times like these looking to save every penny!

Currently just got them on pallets so liveries use even hay off of the bale, clearly they think thats different to when it falls on the floor!

Just wondering if anyone has a original solution?

Hi, I have 20 or so large round bales delivered every winter, they also unfortunately have to be stored outside, on pallets to allow air to circulate underneath. Previously I've tried covering with tarp but that usually gets blown off, and if it does stay on can lead to problems from condensation, so now I just leave them on their sides and they generally do ok, except maybe the outer layer closest to the wrap gets wasted - that layer offers some protection to the rest of the bale. Worst thing is rabbits eat them in snowy weather!
