Anyone travel regularly and need to bring hay? What do you use to store it?

I need to bring enough hay for 2 horses for 2 nights away regularly during summer, but don't want to fill the boot of 4x4 with hay as it's messy enough to begin with! The Ifor has a tack pack so it's not an option to get much hay stored in there apart from travelling hay nets and maybe I ca rig up 2 extra hay nets in the top of the nose above tack pack.

My yard uses huge oblong bales so I can't get take small bales with me, and the only things I can think of using are ikea bags or green waste sacks for the garden... Anyone have other suggestions? Particularly for something with a zip that closes up so I don't get hay everywhere? I do love storage solutions :)

Get a roof rack for your towing vehicle & buy some small bale hay & keep this for use when you travel away. You can get a blue tarpaulin & some bungees to strap it all down. If you've got insufficient room in the trailer & in the boot of your car then the roof of the car is the only option? :)

I did think of this and wonder if I should, but hay is already included in my livery so I don't want to have to source own hay in small bales as then i pay extra and need to somewhere to store them and the cost of roof rails etc. Given the amount of space we need it could fit into the 4x4 if I can just organise it well in a tidy large box or something which is the kind of thing I'm hoping to find (been thinking about the large rug storage boxes, etc). I think I need some sort of collapsable bag or box the size of a coffee table that closes or zips I just can't find any!

What about the zip up bags you get when you buy new rugs? Or those vacuum pack bags? Or bin bags tied up with baling twine?
