done. I do think its rather a poor survey whats all the option 1 thing about? it doesnt differentiate between field and stable. I use haynets in the stables and put hay on the ground in the fields. some of the hay gets trod into the mud but not much TBH and given that we make our own hay it doesnt really matter wasting some of it at least the seeds will germinate in the spring in the muddy areas and so we dont need to re seed . in the stable some of it gets pulled out of the nets and goes into the beds. this is more of a problem as it just gets chucked onto the muck heap. have tried trickle nets but gave up as horses just pulled and pulled and it doesnt do their necks or teeth any good going to smaller holes.

Hello! I am trying to develop a solution to hay waste in my high school Engineering class. I am currently researching methods of controlling hay waste and have made a survey to collect data. If you have a few minutes and wouldn't mind filling it out, I would appreciate it. Here is the link

Thanks!

Like the other poster I don't think you'll obtain any useful data from the survey, it's not probing enough. The answer though is either small hole haynet or a Hay Bar. Even with these in a stable there will always be hay waste as some always ends up in the bed. Likewise in a field some wioll always end up on the groun d & get walked into the ground & wasted.

Poor quality, I highly doubt you'll get any useful data from it, but completed anyway. What does option 1 and 4 mean? Aldo one question suggests an extension (ext), what are you aimimg to get from this?

I use a haybar in the stable and loose in a small adjoining paddock to field. My method of eliminating waste hay is putting any remaining hay from stable into field. Usually if one doesn't eat it, the others will.

Done
The issue I have is that my pony doesn't waste hay because I put it in a hay net.
I'd like to feed hay from the floor but when I do she paws it into her bed and wastes it.
I would like to be able to feed hay from the floor in a way that can't be dragged around the stable.

Done - agree that you need to make the survey more extensive but may struggle now you have began with the survey as it is. Is this part of a mixed methodology?

Actually, I think it is okay as I just realised it is for high school. If you go on to study similar at Uni level this will be a good basis from which to extend your study with further in depth data.

I don't care about wasted hay as I have so much of the stuff I do not know what to do with it! I am currently planning my fertiliser kg/Ha for this year and am drastically cutting back as I keep ending up with more than my horses can eat.
