My mare doesnt seem very interested in her hay at night, is there anyway of making it more appealing to her?

steam it? dunk it quickly in water and let it drain? some of mine much prefer wet hay.

I'm having the same problem with my 29 year old - tried haylage last night and he ate some of it but I suspect his problem his more to do with his old teeth rather than lack of interest!

Try a little treacle/ molasses in water and pour over the hay
worked with a youngster on our yard that had never had anything but grass until he was 3.

Steam it with molasses. If you dont have the facility to steam you could just soak in molassed water..

Check it and try to see why she doesn't like it. What grasses are in your hay? Perhaps she would prefer a different type of hay.
Have to say, I'm a hay producer, and if my guys didn't like the hay I was producing then I'd be looking at reseeding and changing the varieties in my hay. Mind you, can't ever imagine mine not liking our hay as it has some super-cool grasses in it.
