So I've always been at the same yard from having lessons to then buying my own horse. I have been on their hay deal which is £42 a month. I've moved areas and he's on a couple of waiting lists here. One yard sells 6ft round bales for £20. Is this good or bad? How long would it last? As I've always been on the deal I don't know how much he uses in respect of bales. I weigh his nets but that's it. The lady recons it lasted a horse on box rest 5 weeks. If that's the case my hay cost will be halfed. Tia

£20 for a 6ft round bale is very reasonable, obviously dependant on area and quality.

They can vary massively on weight, but to give you a guesstimate it is about 12-14 small bales to a large round bale.
