My spaniel has had quite mattery eyes now for about a week or so. they aren't red and he isn't bothered about it (until I go to wipe them and he turns into a small child!) but they keep producing sticky matter in the corners in a fair quantity. I know my eyes are still itching a bit with hay fever right now but would've thought the matter (not watering) would've started to become a little less as the initial pollen influx decreases...

I have bathed them with tea bags to soothe but like I said they don't look sore..

Anyone elses suffering with this, should I really take him to the vet?

This is very timely for me as my bulldog has had scrotty eyes for a couple of weeks now and the vet keeps saying the conjunctivitis is part of his skin allergy. Anyway I started him on half a tablet of piriteze on mon and today he woke with clear eyes so am hoping its gonna keep them clear from now on.

ooh, did the vet advise the piriteze? how did you decide how much to give him? My eyes are driving me mad today so I will buy a packet for us both I think!!!

Thats like me and my dog, we share a packet.

We have exhausted all the lotions, potions, shampoo's etc and the vet said they wouldn't harm him so worth ago, however a friend last night said you can get anti-histamine jabs for dogs and I did wonder why we weren't offered one.

Anyway for now they have reduced his suffering so i'm gonna keep on using them.
