My vet advised I try piriton to which I have and she is still very wheezy. Other symptoms are one eye is puffy, occasion runny nose and constantly wheezy. I don't feel as though I can exercise her as it must be like having a constant cold - yuck! I also give her global herbs airways plus in her feed.

Anything else I can try?

How many piri ton are you feeding per day and. How big is she?

I would feed global herbs immuplus to boast immune system as a priority. Global herbs restore also to help clear out and detox liver, the body may then have better chance of dealing with allergy symptoms. What about global herbs pollen x instead of the airways one, if it defo is hayfever.

I had great success using a homeopathic hayfever remedy, I know is is unproven but the pony stopped sneezing, his eyes stopped running and overall he improved, being rather sceptical I tried stopping it but the symptoms came back almost immediately, they only require 1 or 2 tablets each day so a cheap thing to try, even if it doesn't work it should do no harm.

I've been using cetirizine hydrochloride from Pharmacyfirst on my sweet itch pony this summer and have been very happy with the results. Much less itching and no runny eyes. :) I have used piriton in the past but it didn't work as well.

16.1hh - 14 per day

16.1hh - 14 per day

My horse recently had to go on these for an allergic reaction which made his breathing elevated. He is a 15hh section D and was prescribed by the vet 20 per day! A previous horse I was involved with has seasonal hayfever and was on 30 tablets a day all summer he was a 15.2hh TB. 14 a day doesn't seem anywhere near enough for any effect.

I was giving my 33inch tall mini 10 tablets twice a day, through May and June, eased back to 5 twice a day last week. The snuffling stopped but the eye started within 4 days if cutting back..
Back to the 20a day again for another fortnight.

This is all on vet advice :) we are using her as an 'interesting' case :)
