Hi!
First time posting on here,
My mare has switched from hay to heyledge to be being underweight and struggling to sourse nice hay.

She’s is looking like she has symptoms of being sore in her tummy. Rolling when she wouldn’t normally, putting her head high in the air, and not full body shaking.
Not colic as she’s Eating, and using the bathroom! Slightly reduced if anything but not a worrying amount.
Can a supplement help her? Is there a quick fix?

Just to add, she’s been scoped- no ulcers

Thank you!

You can have milder colics where the food is still going normally through the guts but the gut bacteria etc have been upset.
You would be better mixing the haylage with hay starting with small amounts of haylage in the hay and building it up so she has time to adapt to the change of diet. The sudden change has probably upset her digestion.
If you are worried about her speak to your vet.

Some haylage is more acid than others and some horses have sensitive guts and don't do well on it.

If you need her to stay on it if possible then I would add 50ml of aloe vera juice a day to her feed and see how it goes.

It's possible she has hind gut ulcers and aloe should help with that. You can buy it in 5l bottles from Ebay for about £35.
