Haylage and napping

My 8 year old cob switched from hay to haylage over the winter could this be a reason for him to start being very nappy hacking out?

It's not pain or teeth.

I find haylage tends to give more energy and make the horses more fresh/sharp, so if he's feeling full of it he might be playing you up a bit I guess.

Thanks he is post rehab after back surgery and our first hack out at the weekend was somewhat traumatic I am getting more advice than you can throw a stick at. We have been happily riding for 7 weeks now and lungeing prior to that and it was a bit of a shock as he used to be a go anywhere horse
