Horse has just moved yards. In previous yard he was on straw, and dry hay with one net of haylage middle of the day. Plus turnout in the day. 48 hours after arriving in his new yard he is sneezing / snorting into the haylage. Clearly it is irritating his nostrils. Yard owner says the haylage is high in pollen - they have had this with another horse. We have removed the haylage and trying on wet hay instead. But my question is, how do I identify "low pollen" haylage or hay?! is it early cut, late cut, first cut, second cut.... Timothy, rye, meadow. The options seem endless.
