Hi All

Does anyone know where I can get some haylage in Cornwall please, large or small bales! I am based on the north coast, near ish to Truro - don't want to give exact location away of course :) Sorry to post on here but I am kind of desperate

Thank you

yes please do! My hay man has enough hay for me until mid feb ish, so just need to stock up on haylage! This have been pretty bad this year with hay/weather etc

Cornwall country supplies near Chacewater may be worth a shot otherwise, cornwall farmers, griggs (who deliver), Baileys in Penryn, Caharrack feed store?

you're a beauty thank you :) I know this will vary, but approx how many small bales would be in a large one? approx...

so the bigger ones are always more economical than smaller ones? 5.50 for small one, 35 for large...and its ok for it to be kept outside isnt it?

What do you need and how much? Large/small etc. My OH supplies caharrack Feedstores so you could probably get it cheaper from him if you are ordering enough. He has large haylage (I think £25 a bale) and small (£6 - again I think!) I am really not being biased when I say it is really nice stuff, not to wet or too sweet smelling. Mine are loving it :) PM me if you would prefer.

If you got 3 or 4 to feed a big bale is ideal, I used big rounds for a while last winter when we had 2 and it warmed as we weren't feeding it quick enough. The downside is being able to move them around.

Hiya, that sounds great thank you. Do you know what the minimum would be, in order for it to be delivered to me please? I am after the big round bales :)

Hi, not sure, PM/post me where you are and I will see what he says, he is out tonight so will ask him when he is sober!!! He may have a customer that he can double you up with on delivery. If not he will probably know someone who can deliver.

So I have found a couple of suppliers of the large haylage but no means to deliver it! How frustrating, would quite happily pay someone to deliver it but its knowing how to find them!

Then I was thinking, perhaps the smaller ones would be better? As I would be keeping them outside and my friend said alot of her haylage one year had holes made in it by animals so of course was wasted, if it was the small bales, I wouldnt waste so much?

So confusing!

ask local farmers. theyve all got the equipment - tractor, drag and pinches to load, transport and unload without damaging the bales. Literally go to the farms and knock on the doors - if they cant they might know someone who can.
