Hi, can you feed haylage that was cut to 4inchs in length. i have a feeling that you can't. but need to check as have found some lovely haylage that is cheap but its cut short.

Why not? I thought the only difference between hay, haylage and silage was the length of time it was left in the field before being baled or airtight wrapped/covered? Didn't think the length of the cut was material? But what do I know lol! Educate us someone!
 
As long as it is haylage and not silage there is no problem. I feed chopped haylage after it has been done for the cows. It is a bit unsuitable for putting into nets but I get round that by having a trough made from half a plastic barrel with wooden stabilizers.
