Quick Question:
Are yard has the big square bales of haylege and someone must of opened a new bale last night but when i went to use it, it was a a bland/grey colour and didt have that sweet smell, so i just used the hay instead but i just wondered is it ok to fed? some people must of used it?
just wondered thanks :)

shouldnt be grey!!!!! if you feel it is not right and obviousley different from usual then do not feed. you are bound to get some folk who say its fine or dont worry what they feed but i would not be risking it.

Wouldn't feed. It should smell gently sweet (no tangy vinegar smells) and not be at all warm to touch. If it isn't both of those things then it isn't good enough to feed. Sometimes bales are blown before they are even opened due to damage to the packaging at some point.
Much better idea to feed hay like you did. I'm sure some people will have used it, some people will feed any old rubbish!!

it smell wasnt very nice and i also thought shes not going to eat this? :o i love the smell of haylege but that was just not so sweet :o
i know someone must of used it cause there was only 3/4 left :o
Thank you :)

i was hoping a new bale was open :o maybe some people dont know what mouldy haylege looks like? :o
shes actully eating all the hay, where as she would leave some haylege so maybe we the other bag wasnt that great either- seemed ok but shes fussy too :p lol
