Would something like this work with haylage as a hay net alternative?

Currently double netting my mare's hay to try and slow her down, but I worry about how bad this is for her neck and back muscles. P.S. needs to be for in the stable overnight.

Yes, I've got one, it's very good but they can get the hay/haylage out quite easily so it might not be so good for slowing her down

Would it be possible to put the hay in a haynet under the plastic grid so it isn't as quick to pull out?

You’d be better with something like the Haygain Forager. Natural eating position and slows them down nicely.

They make a version with a slow feed grill too and others are selling it cheaper than that and have them in stock.
