Hi all, have recently been researching about haynets, benefits and downfalls, and I was wondering about everyone's opinion of my idea;). get a large bucket [ https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Strong-Flexible-Black-Mixing-Builders-Tub---73L/p/198840 ] and put it on the floor of the stable, then put a small holed haynet [not so tiny that it just frustrating, I'm talking the normal 2 inch haylage nets] and pop it in. Then wrap it around the handle to attach it to the trug and tie it to a low tie ring. Another one would be to drill the tie ring through the bucket so there would be no extra string. That way they trickle feed in a natural position. Any opinions greatly appreciated!!! :)

If you tie it to the handles it’s likely to get pulled out I think. I think you’d be better making a hole in the bottom or low on the side and thread the string though and tie on a ring so it’s out of the reach of the horse. You’d still have to tie the bucket on with both handles to stop it being tipped over. If your horse is shod it would still be a danger I think.

Mine are unshod so I just have rings at about waist height so when hung, the small holed nets are almost touching the floor.
