Found these at our local tack store. A self opened rigid haynet. You just hold it with one hand and put the slice of hay in through the opening with the other. When it's full, pull the cord, and the top closes over, to form a tent style haynet. Fantastic! I bought two, €20 each, but found them on Amazon too. A total revalation, as haynets are my worst job. 2 inch holes. received_1132493253869003.jpegreceived_437161494291121.jpeg

I couldn't bring myself to pay £40 for a haynet, but that's given me ideas about cable tying a hoola hoop to the ones I've got!
Hmmm: you don't even need to cable tie - just open the hula hoop at the join, thread the pipe through the holes, and join the ends with a short piece of rubber hose of the right diameter (or re-use the joining piece from the hula hoop). I know this because I've been using hula hoops to make crinoline skirts for yonks :)

I would like to see one before I bought one, I’m not sold on the idea of metal clips I’ve seen a horse with one through it’s bottom lip, I like to get mine pretty high up so they don’t get their legs through them although the horses I have at the moment don’t have any stable habits at all . I only realised a few years back that the small ring attached on the bottom of the traditional hay nets are for putting the tie rope through then you pull up high and tie up with quick release knot I’ve always just put it through half way down so much better with using the small ring at the bottom as long as I don’t cram it too full that I can’t even lift it.
i use one full hay net and a nice big pile in the corner I’m lucky my horses are very tidy and don’t poo or pee on hay, or pull hay around just stand eating it probably all night.
