Haynet string

My haynets are in good condition but the string at the top used for tying them up has been frayed/broken on alot of them so I have replaced with baler twine but its sooo annoying! Is there a strong string type thing I could buy on eBay or something to replace the original? Has anyone got any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
 
Ohh brill thanks!! Trip to b&q tomorrow then I will be soo pleased not to fight with the knots in the baler twine each night :-)
 
and add trigger clips onto the string too, and then you can just clip the haynet to secure it, rather than having to do the cold finger tie-up and release. Wish I had thought of it YEARS ago !
 
i cannot believe i didn't think of it earlier :o i used to work at a riding school where kids put the haynets in at night, with various attempts at knots, and it drove me up the wall - so since, I've always been a bit URGH about them.

WHY don't haynet manufacturers put a trigger clip on all haynets - what an advancement that would be for horse owners ! ;)

Trigger clips wonderful until you see an ambitious foal having pierced their lip and hooked themselves to the bucket on the side of their pen (orphan with a milk bucket!). May be a worry with playing with nets?
 
Washing line cord would work OK I think.

Poundland sells them (shame for going to pound land but they sell really cheap and strong antihistamines for pony allergic oh!!!)

I've seen a clip break as the (v.greedy) horse ripped at its haynet and the clip ricochet at speed across the stable. I was glad it wasn't his eye (or mine!) .
 
Not just foals that can pierce lip on clips. Friends greedy cob did the same thing. It was a nasty tear that resulted.
 
The blue rope in B&Q is great, it lasts ages. After cutting the rope when you've knotted it I just burnt the ends and wrapped a bit of gaffer tape to stop the ends fraying.
