I recently bought a few new nets, all have lasted all of 5 minutes. I have learnt that when it comes nets you seem to get what you pay for, though apparently less than £10 a net does not buy you a decent net. Please can I have some recommendations for nets that will last? Something sturdy, that can handle being tugged at by a hungry pony. Thank you!

I really rate the shires haylage nets. Small ish holes and really good quality. I've got the 6.5kg ones but that's because I hate having tokdo lynchtime nets as well as morning onis so they get all of their day's haylage in one net that lasts all day. They also work well not fully stuffed as the net itself is good enough quality to not collapse completely and make the hay ungettable.

I have the shires ones they are good but I did recently buy some cheap ones with very thin tie up string which broke fairly quickly, so I bought some thick white nylon rope from homebase for about £4 and replaced the tie up bit to save me having to chuck them, it's very handy for repairing hay nets and cheaper than buying new ones.

Thanks all - I have ordered some shires nets :) like the idea about replacing the rope - I'm going to do that as the flimsy string is half the problem!

As others have already said - Shires nets are brill. My pony shakes hes the first couple of times she chews at it, but yet I've had them for 4 years!

For durability it has to be Martsnets. Mine are used as hay pillows and get thrown around the field and in bramble bushes on a daily basis. They have no holes in them whereas a cheaper one I bought (not that cheap, still over £10, has a hole after a months use).

Another vote for Shires :p but I also love haywell nets too! They get as big as something ridiculous like 25kg! You can basically stuff a whole hay bale in most of them. They come in a range of sizes and have good small holed netting :)

I went with the shires ones, I ordered two of the small hole nets, they're probably a small or medium but that's fine for my good doer cob. Very pleased with them so far - thanks all for the recommendations!
