Having pulled the hb505 out of storage and wanting to get it into regular use again, it has become evident that the roof leaks in like a waterfall. I originally suspected the little sunroof thing but having seen it now, it pours in from the panel joins in the roof where the seams run over. I got the ladder out and had a quick look and the mastic has disintegrated in places.

So I need to reseal.

Has anyone done this before? Have you got any tips?

I've used caravan mastic before in the past to reseal an awning rail but that was easier as I was in the ground and you took the rail off first, cleaned out the old stuff, applied new and replaced the rail.

With this though, it looks like I'm going to have to dig and scrape to get the old stuff out, then push new stuff in.

I'm also not sure how I'm going to get to the middle, does the roof take any weight to lean on it?

I'm wondering if a sikaflex product might work better, as I can squirt it in easier then.

I used a product called 'Dicht Fix' to seal a leaking workshop roof where the corrugated panels had cracked. It's a German product, store the can at room temperature before using, and wear gloves! It appears to be an ultra sticky carbon fibre compound - I found the best way to use it was to spread it on to a strip of strong paper and roll it over the crack. It can be applied during a rain storm and it will plug the leak and seal it. I too could not reach the centre of the roof, and the above method was done from inside the building.

Silkaflex do a motorhome and caravan sealant (522 I believe) so that might be worth a try as it's designed to flex.
