Just wondered what people's preference would be given the choice?

My horse is 16.1 may also travel with a friends horse on occasion who is 16.3 but fits happily in a HB506.
I was planning on the HB506 but just found out about a good deal on the HB511 which is a little extra price wise, haven't seen it myself but my non horsey bf said it is huge. Not too sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Well i have a VW touareg so weight shouldn't be a problem.

Right so overwhelming support for the HB11 so far, thats good to hear.

Basically being a little vain, initially wanted the HB506 in blue but can't get it until end of Jan and they have a black HB511 in stock. So trying to work out the most sensible option:)

Very excited!

511 definitely - as long as you have got a decent vehicle to tow with. I love mine and although I only travel 1, I always travel him with partition in and he has plenty of room. Bought mine from a main dealer in Lancashire and got a v good deal!

I would go for the 511, it's always better to have the option of more room if necessary rather than being on the limit and the bars can be adjusted according to horses' sizes. Mine is 16.1 and travels well in a 511 on the maximum bar settings allowing her to make her own decision on travel stance.

My 16.1 ISH hated the 506 (well 505) so i got a 511 (well 510) and he was much happier. Personally think a 16.1 and a 16.3 in a 506 would be too snug.

I don't have trailers anymore (got the joy and pain of a box now!) but when I did, I only had a 15.3 hh and even for him I really wished I'd bought the 511 instead with the extra height and room.

I will vote for the other camp!

I used to travel with my friend in his 505 with my 16h mare and she travelled really well. We then bought a 510, and she really doesn't travel as well in it (she is one of these ones people keep doing threads on that don't balance well in them). If we didn't have my husband's 17h monster we would probably swop back to a smaller one.

However, the bigger trailer is nicer to be in, the 510 is a lot lighter in the roof and you've just got more room to move around in while getting ready etc. It also means that you can give lifts to bigger horses if need be.

511 all the way I travel 1 x 16.2 and 1 x 17.2 and they travel perfect with room to spare I found with 506 I could only rear unload as not enough space to turn even my 16hh out ... also I have travelled a 13.2 very happily in it much love for the 511

Oh it is so difficult to decide.
Would love to go down and see it but they aren't open weekends and I can't get any time off work!

So if you were to line the two up would the 511 be noticeably bigger?

Thinking black would have a better resale option too, but blue would look so nice & match my car (sound like such a silly girl)

I have the 505 but am having to get the 511 as my 16.1hh ISH doesnt like it plus the fact hes still growing (measured him last week and hes nearer 16.3hh now) he does feel very confined much happier in my friends box

Scrap the Ifor idea altogether, and buy a Bateson. FAR better for the money. A good Bateson Ascot will fit pretty much anything, tow well and is much brighter inside.

Ah ok well finding it hard to make a case for the 506 now. Only one vote so far.

Also just wondering where you all keep your trailers and who you have them insured with?

Unfortunately it won't fit in my garage, can go on the drive in front but that doesn't sound too secure.
May have to ask if there is anywhere to keep it at the yard.

You would think so wouldn't you. But unfortunately the guy isn't budging I think he must be moving them really quickly.
I could go and see some elsewhere but no one seems to be matching his price for the 511, do you think it is a bit cheeky to go and see if i am not buying from them? Guess they always have the option of matching his price.

511 for sure, if you can tow it. They are big, airy, inviting and stabe to tow. Even the most akward loader is usually happy to go in one.

As for securing it, do what my friend did: they've had a large ring cemented into their drive and a heavy chain. The trailer gets reversed over it, unhitched and the chain padlocked onto the chassis.. Another friend has a ball hitch bolted to the wall. The trailer is reveresed and unhitched then manually swung a couple of foot round at the front so the ball it rehitched and locked onto the wall. Both are very easy, quick and completely thief proof

Right going to have a look on Saturday so I will be able to compare the two.

Great thanks I hadn't considered either of those options, if anyone else has any more suggestions for security just let me know.

I cant offer anymore suggestions on security; but will add another vote for the 511: i brought mine in August and love it i have a 16.1 well built boy and its lovely to tow; gives my boy a spacious journey and is light an airey; i wasnt looking for a 511 but after viewing it i just went for it and ive not looked back.

For anyone else debating between the two i also have to vote for the HB511.
Having now seen both the HB511 really is far more spacious, has about 6inches extra in width but feels a lot more. Foot extra in length, ramp & doorways are also larger so the overall feel is much more comfortable.
