hes here! a day late but he has arrived! feeling really sorry for the poor boy as hes used to 38 degree heat and is now having to adjust to 8 degrees.. he doesnt have much of a coat and wasnt rugged last night :( must have frozen half to death... also explains his freshness :)

the transporters fell in love with him as hes such a sweety and he really is a lovely little man :) walked a mile home without a fuss just plodding along he really is a very lovely horse

it has taken him 6 days to get here and he did a tour of spain but he took it completely in his stride:) looking at his tack i dont think it has ever seen soap and water so that is top of my list to clean it truely is disgusting!

but here are some photos of him getting to know his new field buddies. funily enough the mares werent interested but taz was trying to show off his moves but failing quite miserably as hes a cluts :o

so here he is! Legendario XV

oh yeah any ideas for a stable name for him? Legendario is a bit of a mouthful :o was thinking Rio but im sure thats a girls name? i dono :) anyway here he is :)

sorry went a bit over board on the pictures :o

He is stunning - also love the name Rio...I don't think it's a girls name at all!

Best of luck with him, I hope you have many happy years together with loads of adventures!
What're the plans?

He's gorgeous! I love the name Rio too or Legend (i alqays dreamt of having a horse called legend after i read the Caroline Akrill book about the girl eventer- I'm sure her horse was called legend!)

im really looking forward to getting to know him hes such a dude! he will hopefully be my new dressage horse! im hoping anyway, hes only really been ridden western but getting him used to me riding with two reins should be no problem got the saddler out on friday just to see if my dressage saddle will fit and if it will then we will get the flair removed and replaced with flocking.. also taking his shoes off next week as his feet are.. well spanish but hes lovely none the less and hes got such a big trot im wondering how i will ever sit to the trot! :o

I'd go for Legend too. I have met another gelding called Rio in the past, but everyone thought it was wierd and used to sing "Her name is Rio" Duran Duran song at him all the time!

Wow he's stunning!

I like Rio and it's definitely a boy's name :D

I seem to have missed the details about him. Age/height/history etc please!

He is lovely :)

...and also has dreadlocks? ;)

What transporter did you use?

Don't worry about him being cold, by the looks of things he is very much alive!

P.S - LOVE the name Rio and I think it really would suit him!

Wow, he is beautiful. And that mane!!

You must all be too young to remember "Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand.." :p

I think Rio would be fine for a boy though, and would really suit him :)

i think he's going to be named Rio as i called him saying Rio and he came trotting over so it may well have been his name :)

he is 15.3hh (or there abouts not great with guessing heights but hes bigger than my 14.3 and a hell of a lot smaller than my 17.2 so bit of a guestimation)

hes a stallion who has been graded so he is a PRE. hes Andalusian hes 8 years old

he was sold to me for littrally pennies compared to what he is worth as his owner has huntingtons and can no longer ride him and was afraid that at one point he would no longer be able to look after him either. he had been for sale for months since january time, Vincente (his owner) turned down a huge amount of offers even when people were offering them above his asking price as he found that pretty much all of the people who came to see him were cruel in their training and riding (sharp spurs, spikey nose bands and generally abusive) and he didnt want that for him as he absolutely doted on him so when my mum went to see him (we werent looking for a horse just spare of the moment thing) he insisted we bought him and dropped his asking price right down paid for his vettings and all of the paper work and heldhim for 2 months while we got everything sorted. Vincente had owned him since he was 2 and broke him in at 4 and did parades on him and he does some moved ments like spanish walk and passage but hasnt really been over worked at all. 30 people came to wave him off last thursday when he was picked up and a lot of tears were shed as he was well known in the town as they used to ride him to the shops :o

im really greatful for all of the help vincente provided he went above an beyond what was expected of him and he has asked to keep him updated with photos etc which im more than happy to do :)

he was trasported with LOC horse transporters and i cannot reccomend them enough :)

He is a stunning little horse and it sounds like fate that you now have him! Will he be gelded or are you keeping him entire?

my horsey is called Rio :) and he is a boy. Also GB Para-Dressage rider Sophie Christiansen's horse is called Rio and he too is a boy.

hes being kept entire, yes hes never been used as a stud horse but if all else fails he can be used as one, also spoke to my vet and he said that because of his age the risk of hemorrhaging (sp?) was high so i dont really want to take the risk if there is no need and hes got a lovely nature, a lot nicer than my gelding and even when he was down wind of the mares he didnt seem too bothered :)

so its decided his name is Rio - although asked a few non horsey friends and their suggestions were- burnt sausage, black pudding, bean and leggy so to them they have decided to call him sausage :o but he comes to Rio so i think that one will stick eventually :)

hes currently stuffing his face in his stable listening to the radio... i have fallen in love with him already! hes such a dude! :)

He is lovely! Is he registered PRE? These Spaniards know how to steal a girls heart :D

What a nice type he is too! Are you a BAPSH member yet?
