I made Daughter jump Little Cob sans saddle yesterday...

Please excuse the picture quality, I only had my phone with me

Today I was much nicer and let her have a saddle lol, then she jumped Big Cob (with a saddle as well! I must be going soft in my old age lol)...

No you're not a bad mummy, it's good for them, I can remember being taught with a whip straight across my back hooked into my elbows, and taking saddles off while trotting. A lot of what we did as kids was fun, but wouldn't be allowed these days! The guy who I used to partner at gymkhana when I was about 11 lives round the corner from me, we keep saying we ought to try it again lol! Don't think so hee hee

She has a nice position....must be all that riding bareback.

Never did me any harm, in fact could do with a few sessions now. Just not btave enough anymore!!

How many horses? Too flippin' many lol
grin.gif
. Only three, and one of those is retired, but we are lucky in that we have good friends and ride theirs and they ride ours

.

Daughter wants to have a go at taking her saddle off whilst jumping... I said she has to get LC sorted and steady first lol.

They are indeed smashing coblets

. Thankies

They look like they are having fun

When I was a kid we used to have to ride bareback to deepen our seat - they're not allowed to do it now at Riding Schools. I used to love it - not sure if I would now though - I'll have to give it a go...

not cruel in the slightest! her seat will be awesome, and I will be sending all naughty ponies her way to sort out!!

seriously tho, we always did grid work at PC with varying levels of tack, which you had to adjust on command at trot without losing control of ponio.

I learnt very quickly how to take saddle off while trotting, and how to undo rein buckles, cross under neck and redo again whilst keeping bouncy nervous coblet on a 20m circle in the middle of a field! we used to go down a 3foot grid of a good half dozen jumps bareback, and with arms out sideways at shouder height... I only remember one person getting injured and her horse bronc'ed with excitement and stood on her arm when she fell off.

. She has worked hard on her position - is getting there
grin.gif
. Is a darn sight better than mine lol. She rides a lot without stirrups, at least half a session every day. Her choice
grin.gif
.

I was planning on trying it... now I can't wait for my competition breastplate to come back and to see if my nice Albion saddle with Big kneerolls will fit the Dizzy one

Lol, she'd enjoy that immensley
grin.gif
. Little Lad's broncing certainly helped lol (see, I really am a bad mummy).

I too remember PC days of riding a course without reins (now that was funny
grin.gif
); gird runs of jumps where we had to take jackets off and put back on again before reaching the end (bounces and one striders - killers!).

Ah, those were the days

Little bay is Little Lad - the one we retired a month or so ago as he's too much of a g!t under saddle and Daughter is too long legged to ride him on a regular basis

What a lovely pair....that's the cobs by the way, great to see them flying over fences and doing some good old fashioned bareback jumping, all good fun.
