I have just put my horse onto global herbs skratch plus but he is now rejecting his feed!

Just wondering what you would recommend to encourage him to eat it?

thanks

u need to try and add something that will hide the smell
try and use garlic or something along those lines

Hi - I just had a batch of Global Herb stuff ( x3 ) and was a bit worried as to how he would react as they smell quite strong. I asked their advice when ordering and they recommended honey. I also started at a lower dose and have split between feeds mixed with extra rations of speedi beet. So far so good.

I have used several different Global Herbs products - as have others on the yard - and yes some do have a strong smell. Luckily neither of mine would come into the fussy eater category but try something like honey as the results are worth it in my opinion. Maybe consider introducing in really small amounts, increasing slowly as he gets used to the taste. Hope you find something that works.

My friend's TB decided that his mum was trying to poison him with his new build up cubes and rejected his feeds. A cupful of Tesco's own brand, BOGOF apple juice sorted it instantly and after a few weeks of appley dinners he doesn't need it any more!

Skatch has a very strong smell, not quite sure what, sort of tar and bonfires? I used dried mint with feed which helped. You may also find that your horse will have an odd smell about him when he sweats and his wee may smell a bit odd too. Nothing to worry about if you can persuade him to eat it.

Thankfully my boy eats it even in a tiny feed!

It works - I not have a horse that is all but cured of Sweet Itch!!
