When i first had my mare she had a habbit of shaking her head not violently just enough for it to be a bit of a pain. After afew months of riding she snapped out of it and would only do it every now and then. Shes recently had an injury resulting in her being on box rest for just shy of three months. I have strated to bring her back into gentle work, but the head shaking has come back, but after 10/15 mins into the ride she forgets about it?

Shes never strong or silly but sometimes does snatch the reins from me when were just having a quiet stroll. This is usually after trotting? and she doesnt do it alot.

Shes had her teeth done recently so dont think shes uncomfortable with the bit?

its not a major issue for me but just interested to know how mny of you have experienced this, and if it should be something to worry about?

Shes an ex point to point, quiet tb mare.

do any one you have this or had this with your lovelies?

any advise comments would be appreciated :)

Bob has stints where he'll start throwing his head about when we're on the way home. I know sometimes it's a temper tantrum because I'm asking him to walk and he wants to go quicker. I just make his running martingale into a standing one for a ride or 2, he soon settles.

They're not robots though, they do have a mind of their own. Bless them!!!

Think Flirs must be too its just as were leaving and after trotting when i am asking her to walk .... i tend to just ignore her lol was just curious if anyone experiences it ... Funny mare

Mine does this when we have a normal bridle on. I have one with no noseband and the head tossing/shaking/snatching stops. I think he just finds it irritating especially when getting hot when he itches his face on his legs!! Also, my friends horse did this a lot and we thought it was pollen but I took the browband off because I thought it looked tight and we're ok now. Just a thought. :)
