Head shaking

Mine only seemed to do it ridden at first. Now, years down the line he will 100% definitely do it on the lunge and I'm seeing bits in the field

Mine never did it in the field or stable, not so sure about lunging as I hardly lunged. It can be associated with increased airflow through the nostrils, mine was typically OK when walking and only started after trotting for a bit.

ETA I did used to put a full face fly hood on in the summer which covered the nostrils

Yes my gelding does, believe it's pollen related as it's more noticeable in the summer months. There's a good Facebook group for advice 'Equine Headshaking Syndrome'. There's lots of different things you can try and sadly it's a case of trial and error, for example I've found giving mine anti histamines didn't help whereas feeding him magnesium oxide has pretty much stopped it.

A nose net works for mine, only use it when riding him.
He is worst in summer. He only does it when ridden or when being restrained when led.
I often have to restrain him as he’s a very naughty Welsh cob with a high snack drive ❤️
