Ok so with all this snow my horse has been in alot and has become very head shy? shes always been ok but recently become very silly every time anyone goes to stroke her head she shoots her head up and some times hitting the top of the door frame... of course this is now starting to worry me the same problem when i go to do her breast straps on her rug the head flys up and sometimes bashes me on the way? im very confused as to why she is doing this? any ideas how i can calm her and get her out of this silly habit?

It could be a boredom thing if she hasn't been out much. Can they start/are they starting to get out now? I would be tempted to get her back into her normal routine of going out etc, and then re-assess the problem after a week or 2.
You don't want to start buying expensive supplements, if she doesn't need them!!
Whats she like when you put her headcollar/bridle on?

Has anyone else been handling her? With the snow, perhaps you have had someone do her for you?

Not saying that they have hit her but Zoom is very headshy if not handled extremely sensitively.

i was thinking that it could be a bordom thing tho when i really watch her i think she is truely scared? im wondering if someone has been nasty to her while she has been in?
she can over react over silly things at times. .

shes fine to put her headcollar and bridle on, just silly with movements around her head? its very strange?

i was just wondering if there is any way i can calm her down and show her shes not going to get hurt?

shes started as of saturday to go out for an hour or two a day

i do have a girl who help me with her 2 days a week but she is very good and sensitive around her?
im just very confused as to why shes is acting very silly. . iv had her 10 years and shes always been fine until now?!
im just worried she may hurt herself.

it doesnt take a lot to make them wary. They never seem to forget a misjustice and if she has received a knock / smack on her face even accidentally she will be reacting to that. With time and carefull handling and some desensitising for a while she should be back to normal. I suspect the routine of being in probably has made her more on edge than normal. My lad can be the same - if he gets all stressed he acts as though he has been beaten up (never with me I add!!!!)
