I was wondering if anyone has any tips/ideas/advise on helping with a head shy horse.

She has always been head shy, when i first got her, I couldnt even touch her ears, had to pull the bridle apart to put it on but now I am able to do both BUT over the last few weeks (and I think i know who/when this started) she has become increasingly scared of any fast movements around her head. - which might explain another reason for not wanting to load.....hmmm!

Had a nervous 3 year old (not ill treated in any way) who was head shy, I tied 4 milk cartons (2 litre can types) in his open doorway with water in them, kept the lids on for a day or two so that he wouldn't splash himself straight away, and he got used to them being around his ears without any human interference. After a few weeks he didn't care what went up his face or over his ears and had no problems putting the bridle on him when we started breaking him although he had been touchy with a headcollar beforehand.
