My boy tilts his head on the right rein - ears to the centre of the circle. He is not too bad on a 20 metres circle but it gets very noticeable on 15 metres and it is being picked up in his tests. I have some suggestions from trainers .1. loosen the outside rein 2. lift my right hand up in the air. 3. he needs to come through more with his off hind so more legs on the inside.

I would have to say none of these have worked to date.. He just gets tense and upset.

He doesnt do it when lunged on even a tight circle so I am wondering if it is my lack of straightness ie is my weight falling in on the circle - no one has mentioned this though. Ideas please.

do you use a chiropractor at all? Head tilting can be due to problems in the atlas area which a chiro can sort. Guess teeth etc are all checked.

My trainer gets me to widen my outside hand away from the neck without losing the contact and then use my inside leg strongly. The widening rein gives him the space to move into. Equally could be your weight falling in as you say. Not sure how to explain in easy terms how to correct that - sorry.

Do you think it is an evasion? Personally I would never mess overly with the outside rein, and I would deffo look at your own straightness in the saddle - your hips and shoulders especially. Anywhere you can ride with mirrors, or can someone video you?
