Head Torches!!

Lots of things to consider:
Weight, and if it is all on the front, vor split between the light and the battery at the back.
Lumens (brightness). And whether it is like a spotlight or wider spread.
How long between charging.
I have a screw fix one which isn't very comfortable to wear but good light and long lasting, and a cheap headband type which is comfortable but the charge doesn't last.

I have a Milwaukee L4HL. I’ve never really got on with head torches before, but this one is really good. It has different light settings and a headband that is robust and easily adjustable. It was a present so I don’t know how much it cost.

I got mine from Decathlon. They have a few different ones. Mine has a red light and two settings on the white light. It wasn't the most powerful one they had but it's pretty good when searching for horses in a pitch black field.

I have two from Amazon that have been amazing! I have one in my car and one at the yard. Charge last ages on them and the brightness is excellent. I hack out with one on and with it having a red light in the back makes it easier to be seen both sides 😃

They were about £17 😃

Can't beat a Lumilight. https://getlumilight.com/products/l...epAZgC7DnMsHZCeDZiRDVf5fKg21WNCxoCPR8QAvD_BwE

I use this at lambing time, far better than a standard head torch, much better spread of light and very easy to wear.

I was given one of these for Christmas last year and was really impressed. It’s very good.
I’ve had so many head torches, some expensive some fancy tiny light weight ones.
I always go back to my trusty old Amazon finest and a woolly hat! I can’t wear one directly on my head!

I’ve got a BluKar one from Amazon, cheap and rechargeable, does the job for feeding two ponies in the field opposite the house.

I was put off a Lumilight when the blurb said it would only work for 3 hours between charges. (Light on high beam)

As I want to use it for poo picking I'll need an hour, two to three times a week. Can it be done on the lower light setting so I get longer between charges?

We got these from Amazon, rechargeable, £15 for 2 head lights. Brilliant bargain! There’s low beam and bright beam. Also red beam. They’re waterproof too, ours have been drenched.
Had them a year and they’re holding charge like day 1 still. Very impressed. Saved so much from not buying batteries being replaced weekly for our petzl torches.

I like that I can angle the beam down when doing horses at night so I don’t dazzle them. They squint a lot otherwise as their night vision gets blasted with light.

^^^ I've got these. Bought them beginning of last winter. Keep one for here at home and the other in the car.

They give a good light. No complaints about them. And cheap as chips.

I use mine for an about 45 mins every evening so I charge it every 3rd night. It doesn't take long to change up usually but I do leave it charging over night and just grab it on my way out of the door in the morning. Even on the lower light setting its still pretty bright.

I actually had a problem with the first one that I bought in that it wouldn't charge up, the company swiftly sent me a new one after I emailed them and not had a problem since. I couldn't go back to a bulky headtorch now.

I don't like the Lumilight one 🫠 It's bright if you put it on in the house/building, but I don't think that bright for in the field at night. I don't like the side light either or the band, and I didn't find the buttons easy to press/differentiate when leading horses in. For me the best one is one I got from Amazon that has 3 torches at the front. You can put 1 2 or3 of the lights on and it's very bright. It also sits central on your forehead and has 1 button so no danger of pressing the wrong one and turning off.
