headaches with aura

I get different 'aura' symptoms - inability to 'find' words for example, but I usually stop it by drinking a glass of water, taking a vit/min pill (for electrolytes) along with aspirin or similar, and lying down in a darkened room for a while.

It's a classic migraine, it starts with tingling and/or numbness, and then you might get zig zag flasing lights in a ring to one side of your vision. Then about an hour later you get the headache from hell.

My strategy is to take 2 Migraleve Pink tablets as soon as the aura comes on, then if you're lucky you may not get a progression of symptoms but if you do they shouldn't be so bad.

If you get sickness and nausea as well then you also need Migraleve Yellow.

If you suffer regularly you can get sumatriptan from the doctor, or over the counter at the pharmacy these days (Imigran recovery), though a prescription is cheaper if you get a lot of migraines.

Remember to keep hydrated, and make a note of what you were doing and what you had eaten before the attack as you may notice a pattern.

Hi! I get alot of migraines. If it's a persistent thing your best going to your GP. I've have some tablets that I take as soon as I feel the aura starting. I found Ibufroen (I can't spell today lol) helpful as well, I suppose it reduces the blood vessels from widening in your brain. I always make myself drink loads of water throughout the day. I also found they improved after I had changed my riding hat.

I also get them before I have a seizure (I have epilepsy too) so always panic slightly but that aura is a bit different. Hope you feel better very soon, they are annoying things!

Go to your Docs and ask for Rizatriptan, it is a marvellous migraine drug which is taken at the onset of an attack and it will make the migraine disappear in 20 mins or so, they made a massive difference to my life as I suffered with cluster migraine and had stroke type symptoms so quite serious and these have stopped me getting days and days of hell!
