Hello guys,

My little mare is a very delicate flower! She has very sensitive skin. She lives out, but can be a toad to catch without a headcollar on, so she needs one on in the field. However her headcollar is now rubbing her - even though she had it on all winter and was fine . One day all is fine, and the next she has 3 large sores on her face She has always had a leather headcollar (feel safer in the field with her in leather) but as that was rubbing, I changed to a padded soft one. This too rubbed. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can get her that WONT rub?

Thanks in advance

These - excellent but buy a bottle of super glue at the same time and keep it up the stables as they do break (well they are supposed to!!) - don't lead in it either you need to put another collar over the top.

This, they are very lightweight so don't rub, I used to use one to put a nose cover on for my horse as he has a pink nose, doesn't matter now cos he wears a muzzle when turned out so some good has come from wearing a muzzle !

How about getting a cheap sheepskin girth sleeve, cutting it to size where it rubs and putting it on the appropriate places. I have done this with my geldings grazing muzzle and it works for him. Wash the headcollar regularly so it stays as soft as possible.
