Which brand is best? Gencon/halti etc. My new rescue lab is a puller and to save my arms being pulled out whilst trying to train i am looking at getting one but wondered your opinions as to which was best. Boring post i know but currently trawling ebay. Thanks

I am told that Dogmatic are the best in terms of fit. Personally I used a Halti as it was the cheapest (:o) and it was always intended as a short term measure; I would have paid out for the Dogmatic otherwise as I was never satisfied with the fit of the Halti. Hate the bloody things but it did help in those first few weeks.

Incidentally I have both a size 2 and a size 3 Halti that I would be glad to see the back of for the cost of the postage! :)

Oh you may have solved my problem and matched budget ha and at least then hopefully one would fit him. Do you want to find out cost of postage (no rush) and pm me and ill take them off your hands. Thanks

They hardly weigh a thing, expect postage would be under £2 - PM me your address and I can have them in the post on Thursday. :) I would only ask that you pass them on in kind when you're done with them.

I think a lab would be a size 3 but the sizes are odd, like I say they never really fit mine properly but she came to me as a puller of the frantic scrabbling drag-you-in-the-road type so I didn't care a jot for her discomfort. :p

If you don't get on with the halti, I recommend the canny collar, same principle, but the lead attaches to the back of the neck, not underneath so 'steering' is not so tricky and you can allow the dog to meander from side to side.

Hi, I've used Halti and Gentle Leader in the past but since being kindly given a Dogmatic would not use anything else. Fit's well, and it works on my pully youngster. I only use it when we are going somewhere where there will be lots of excitement or when it was very icy, but highly recommend them. I have a leather one but the fabric ones are a bit cheaper and look fine. I use it with a training lead which is also attached to her regular collar in case she does slip it. Good luck with the rescue lab.

Thanks so much Black cob have pm'd you.

Thanks he is a lovely boy just pulls my arms out currently ha but hopefullu we will sort this over next few weeks.

Will have a look at dogmatic too thanks x

I have a Dogmatic too and they are the most popular of everything we stock as well (Halti, Dogmatic and Gentle Leader) despite being the most expensive. GL pulled straight into his eyes and he managed to pull through the Halti  but he's never once managed to get the Dogmatic off despite some fairly determined efforts.
