Hi all!

I’m after some advice. I have a very petite Welsh A (11hh). She currently has a Lemieux headcollar in “Mini” but it’s still too big on the smallest settings. I’m worried a super mini might be too small. What brands would you recommend? Leather or otherwise… it’s hard to tell proper sizing online and I don’t have the patience to keep buying, trying and returning.

Thanks in advance!

I gave up buying/trying and now make my own from BioThane! 😂

I have two Sec As and have found after much trial and error (and expense and effort...) that it is worth finding ranges that are designed for ponies/minis. The general ranges that offer small/xs etc are often just not-quite-right as they tend to be scaled down measurements from horse rugs more than re-proportioned.

I've found Dinky Rugs (aka Tack and Turnout) quite good previously, and Ruggles. Also try Ponyo and The Pony Tackshop.

You make your own?! That’s amazing! I was I was talented like that! I know exactly what you mean though. I keep getting recommended “pony” but I know 1000% it’ll be too big. Thank you so much for the suggestions! I’ll check those out! 🥰

Look for HY leather foal head collars. Lovely for little heads.

They are very adjustable, are neat and lightweight, and widely available in a range of sizes (perhaps the smaller ones for your ponies)
Give it a good oil occasionally and away you go.
I use on my ponies everyday.

I'd get one made. Zoe at Pioneer Endurance made mine for my awkward sized bigger native & I love it - being biothane it's super easy to look after (literally just hose it off if mucky) & long wearing. A black or brown one would look like leather.
