headshakers ?!?!

My wonderful little tb x racer I think maybe a headshaker?!?! he is tossing his head quite violenlty when I do dressage on him and ask him to work in a frame. He did this a couple of months ago in April when i first got him (I thought it was his teeth that have been done, teeth are fine at the moment he has his 6 month check in october all booked) but since then he was fine but then last week he has started again. I have bought him a nose net (it is arriving tomorrow) but I do not know what else to do?? he is not doing this when I jump. I am beside myself as I have entered out first ever ODE at the end of the month and our dressage will be shocking if I cant work something out. I have given up trying to practice the dressage and am hacking out and he does not seem to be so bad so I have no idea. I have never had a head shaker so I have no idea. I would imagine his is seasonal and this has only started now?!?! Any help would be great!

it may need the nose net which u have ordered my horse used to do it too alot, and it only happened every so often.. got a nose net and it never happened again he is fine in winter time though x x

When did you last vacinate him ? I had a horse recently that was very upset following his routine vaccination

Had a similar experience with our ex racer at start of summer. Really bad headshaking both in school and hacking - almost to the point of becoming un-rideable.

Since using a nose-net the problem has vanished. Definitely give it a try.

thats it he is shaking so much he is unseating me then I cant hold my blance fall and then he gets upset that I smacked his back and then he gets himself all worked up he finds it easier in canter but not great.. Did you notice the differnce instantly with a nose net??? he was vaccinated in march time he is due again soon I think?!?!

i can not believe how quick this has come on he was fine 2 weeks ago

The Capstar treatment looks fab do not think I can afford it at the moment

We noticed the difference with a nose net straight away with our lad. Keep us posted how you get on with it when it arrives.

Effervesent, I'd really like to know how you get on with the nose net. I bought a new horse in March and he headshook a lot in April but nothing since.
