Healing after Liverpool Cream

LC has been used on one of our horses and the scab is about to drop of leaving a big fleshy hole which has been bleeding today. Have cleaned around it with hibiscrub warm and well diluted. Unsure how to help healing did read that Manuka Honey was good but can you put it on an open wound. Any suggestions gratefully received

When I used Liverpool cream I just left the area alone after the little wart had come away.I would be loathe to put anything else on in case it irritated the area.I would speak to your vet for advice.

talk to your vet and keep him informed. wash off with saline solution in a garden sprayer twice a day. always looks worse than it is. dont panic.if worried get your vet to take a look. i had a horrse who was lasered for sarcoids then liverpool cream on. i flushed off twice a day with saline and when very large (10 inches by 10 inches) scab came off to reveal a large raw patch kept flushing with saline and dressed with flamazine and intrasite mixed together. end result a small puckered scar which you have to look for!

If you're worried about it get your vet to have a quick look or get them to speak to Derek up at Liverpool. I really wouldnt put any other type of cream or ointment on it until i'd spoken to them as the liverpool cream is very strong and could easily irritate it further. Keep it as clean and fly free as poss and see what they say. My old gelding had 3 lots of the Liverpool cream, 1 lot was for an ulcerated sarcoid on his leg. After the sarcoid had dried up & fell off the hole it left was about 4.5/5 inches square. All i was told to do was keep the area very clean and not to put anything else on it. It healed over within about 6/7 weeks and you really had to look for the scar by the time it had healed completely a few months down the line. I dont know much about manuka honey to say what it does but putting stuff like tea tree or aloe vera on them is a big no-no as they encourage cell growth and that's the last thing you want to do on an area with sarcoids. Hope everything is going ok with your horse, i know what a worry having a horse with sarcoids can be.
