Mare still not totally weight bearing on r hind after slip on road Friday. Vet said box rest and cold hose daily, bute and TLC. If no better next week vet will arrange X-ray or scans. It's def not abcess, that would be too easy... She walks 3/10 lame on flat but walks on toe on slopes. Better downhill!!! I am praying its not DDFT . Anyone any idea how much scans are of the foot. ? I know set of x rays £100 she is insured but as she is 19 the excess is £500!!!!
History of arthritis in hocks, am now hoping she has just agrivated it. She is rarely lame in 4 years my son has had her only one lame issue due to a kick in field.

Poor girl, sorry to hear she has hurt herself. Sending healing vibes and keeping fingers crossed that it turns out to be a straightforward injury that will heal soon x

An ultrasound scan will not work inside the actual hoof, so if it is a problem within the hoof that does not show on xray your vet is either going to be using educated guesswork or sending her for an MRI scan which costs around £1k and you would need to get approval from your insurance co before doing that.

Hope something simple is found and she is ok.
