Healing Vibes? - Post Op Photos (slight gore warning)

I don't often post on here - I'm much more of a lurker, but I'd appreciate some healing vibes for my poor horse who has just undergone an excision of a rather large mast cell tumour on his face (more common in dogs than horses). He is feeling very much sorry for himself.

They had to take out much more than they thought, and so have been unable to stitch up so it will have to heal of its own accord (its about the size of my fist to put photo's into perspective). Wondered if anyone here had any experiences with such things. Looks like he won't be able to come home from the vets until next week. He whinnied at me when I left this morning - even the groom cried!

-What have you done to me mum?!

- Purple line on far right is his main facial nerve, hence why they were unable to stitch him up for fear of damaging it.

- Sorry if I just put anyone off lunch!

-He isn't too keen on his bandages!

Poor darling, I hope it heals quickly and he can return home soon. He is in the best place, they can prevent the wound from getting infected etc. and sort it out more quickly if it does. I hope he makes a good and speedy recovery from whatever caused the tumour as well.

Bless his cotton socks! I bet you will be supprised how quickly it heals though.
Ive looked after 2 horses who had to have their sinus's drained, and the wound (in their case a hole in the face) healed really really quickly.
Keeping everything crossed for your boy, hope he cheers up soon!

Must admit they did a lovely job - can't speak more highly of the vets and nurses at oakham he is certainly getting plenty of attention.

Photos from before of those interested. - This was after he aggravated it, in the ulcerated phase of the tumour and the point at which we realised it was a tumour rather than just a sarcoid.
