Our darling, very very special old gentleman has been taken down with bad colic tonight

Hes 26 and usually fit as a fiddle (got placed at 2ft6 jumping 2 weeks ago) but my mums friend went down at 4pm to ride him to find him flat out in the field

To cut a long story short, two vets have been out and hes had as much medication as they can give him. Hes been for a little trip in the lorry (on vets advice) to try and rouse him to fight this (he loves going out in the lorry). It worked a tiny bit but not much

They cant take him in to operate as hes too old so its up to him now. Vet says its touch and go

Were all on vigil and have organised shifts through out the night.

Please everyone keep your fingers crossed for our beautiful, gentle little man. Im crying while writing this, we've had him 20 years and hes so healthy at the mo, its such a shock.

C'mom Herbs my baby, we love u so much please dont give up now... not when ur so happy and healthy at the moment.

loads and loads of vibes and hugs coming your way. i really really hope everything turns out ok my lad who was pts two weeks ago wasnt very well and he used to get colic sometimes so i know just how scary it is, he wasnt put to sleep because of colic btw. hope everything goes your way

Our old lady had colic on and off for a week, two years ago. She is my fathers retired driving horse, was 25 when she had the colic, had a hard life before she came to us, had seven foals in seven years. She is in the field this evening happily spending time with the other two horses and her best friend the sheep. <<<<<<<<<<<<vibes>>>>>>>>>>>>> for your lad I hope he pulls through like our old lady did.

C'mon Herbs, we are all rooting for you boy.

Im sending all the positive vibes that I can muster for your boy and for you. Keep asking for help hun.

Has he had buscopan? Have they done a rectal? Are they Equine vets? Sorry, just panicking with you.

Hx

I've got everything crossed for you - I hope your boy is strong enough to pull through this - Colic is a complete nightmare and really does take you by surprise!
