Heard of a possible house - North Wales

So, it's fairly near Nefyn. House good, lots of land, etc., but location...?

I tend to usually commute once or twice a week to, well, could be anywhere in the UK/mainland Europe. Usually drive, but am willing to take the train to get to wherever I need to be if that makes more sense.

We were looking further down/closer to the M4, but someone knows someone who knows someone, etc. etc. etc.

Any ideas as to what it is like that neck of the woods? Good for teenage daughters? Competition venues? Etc. etc. etc.

oooh, quite far north.
personally, i'd recommend taking a holiday there first. i lived further south than that (loved it) but am very aware there is a huge difference between north and south wales. also, wales itself is very different than rest of UK.

Very beautiful part of the world - used to spend childhood holidays out that way. But a long way from anywhere. It'd take you a good couple of hours to get to the nearest motorway - and that's in a car, and not when you're fighting holiday traffic. If you're wanting to get away from hustle and bustle then go for it but I don't think there are any major competition venues out that way.

ha! "somewhere up a mountain"!
if you've been up that way, and like it, go for it. you'll get used to being miles from a motorway. and will easily adapt. i'd say it's more than worth it for the beautiful scenery and laid back lifestyle.

Shropshire and Cheshire on Sea up that way so would imagine it would be great for teenage daughters!!

Have never had the horse up there but used to holiday in that area every summer when I was little. Really lovely but would think that you will find very little in the way of competitions and the roads there are not great so you would be doing some mega treks to get anywhere.

I might be wrong (or maybe it was more abersoch way) but there did also used to be some very anti english people about.

I don't know what your budget is but there was a house in the back of horse and hound advertised this week. I would think it must be a typo but for £700k you could have an indoor/outdoor, 20 odd boxes, 10 acres, xc course, post and rail paddocks, but not a proper house. Plus a spa and a treadmill.

Yes it is far from the motorway but they are just finishing major improvements to the worst part of the road so it should be a lot better in the future. Once you get to Caernarfon the road is fine anyway, you are on the A55 and can be on the motorway in an hour. Also regular direct trains to London from Bangor.

There are more horsey goings on up there than down here. If I had transport I would take my beast up there. A few riding clubs round Caernarfon way I think, and Anglesey.

The Welsh can be a bit anti English, but mind you so am I since I moved here (and I am english!). Basically they hate tourists, who are completely selfish and treat the place like it exists purely for their benefit. If you live and work in the community it is completely different, especially if you make the effort to learn a little bit of welsh and tell them your grandad was welsh.
