... my friend was out hunting yesterday, and in a bit of a freak accident his horse fell and broke his leg and had to be pts.

Out on the tops of the moors, and G is asked to go and head of a couple of wayward hounds. Ace is good as gold, knows his job and goes off at a fair lick.
At the end of the field is a hedge, and the pair head for the corner. As Ace takes off a pheasant flies up literally under his nose. He take avoiding action mid-jump, and lands with his foot through a wire fence causing him to fall on landing and breaking the leg.

He radioed for someone to ring a vet, who, bless his socks, arrive within minutes. Ace was pts there and then.

G is bruised, and devastated but on the mend. He's taken a very pragmatic view that at least Ace died doing what he loved, and that G didn't have to watch an old horse deteriorate and make a decision that way.

But, Ron will miss his racing partner, Tom will miss his babysitter, Northy will miss her boyfriend, and Abi will miss her sparring partner.

RIP my friend.

RIP ace. Atleast he went doing something he loved and the vet got there so quick so he didn't suffer for long. He's gone away. To the big hunting field in the sky.

Please pass on my condolences to your friend. Iknow all too well what an awfull shock it must have been. So tragic. Regards Mike.
