hearing noises

wonder if anyone could help me, my horse is really good in most respects but whenever he hears noises like even a little bird making different noises or the littlest little thing he freaks and wants to get away as fast as possible.
Ears etc have been checked no probs he just is a kiff when it comes to noises.
obv this is becoming a problems when being ridden so someone suggested using a fly veil with ears that would help drown out or mask some of the noises.
does anyone know of any good ones with thick ears to help with this??

I am reliably informed that some showjumpers put cotton wool in their ears under the ear mask thing.

i have heard that too but dont want to have to put cotton wool in his lugs every time i ride lol
so im hopin there may be something else to try

You can get "knitted" ear covers to muffle sound - you see them on a lot of top showjumpers...

will see if i can see any knotted ones but all i can seem to find is cotton ears
