I found it interesting.
 
I have been saying for years that horses don’t have heart attacks, after spending some time looking into research on sudden deaths at uni as part of my study, but unfortunately it is hard to get people to change their terminology even within the sports horse / racing industry, especially when publications like H&H and Racing Post / ITV refer to them as such.

Just to add onto this, back in 2011 there was international study into racehorse sudden death and the results are very interesting - in some cases it was pulmonary haemorrhage or even rupture of another major blood vessel that resulted in the fatal collapse. It’s not a perfect study because it’s hard to find one of those from a critical analysis perspective! But it was an interesting starting point and it doesn’t require academic access - people can skip to the discussion if P-Values are not your thing! Link
