Heartbreaking

Looks like he has severe calcium deficiency too looking at that head :( someone please get him!

do we know when the pictures were taken?
Im really worried for the little lad, the type of person that would do that to a pony is probably the same type of person who would have no qualms about making it dissappear. it is as the title says truly heartbreaking that anyone has the badness to treat an animal in that way.

Recently as in the last few days.

The BHS do have a welfare officer in West Yorkshire - on Tuesday last week she was at a castration clinic near Bradford. If someone who has seen them and knows exactly where they are contacts the welfare dept at BHS headquarters, they will contact the nearest welfare officer. I'm in South Yorkshire and away now in Kent, or I would go and at least look. The police and RSPCA can always be asked to go along as backup if the situation looks potentially dangerous, but often someone on their own is seen as less threatening. (I'm over 60 and have always been met with courtesy though I've not done it for long and might just have been lucky.) Lee from hq usually monitors these posts, so might be along to give advice.

From what I saw on FB last night the BHS were reluctant to get involved as the RSPCA had already been called and 'were dealing with it' - they dealt with it by telling the owner not to leave the bit in for too long FFS!

There was talk last night of HAPPA getting involved but not sure how that progressed. There is now a petition asking for the removal of all animals from the site itself and for a permanent ban to prevent animals being kept on that site.

I haven't seen any more updates yet this morning and I haven't had a response to my enquiry with the RSPCA on this.

Have shared on my Fb page too - am in North Yorks but have quite a few friends in West Yorks and have asked that if anyone knows where this is, that they ring WHW and the BHS Welfare Officer. The more phone calls the better in these cases generally.

I also don't think anyone should offer money for the poor little soul - better if a charity can confiscate it so that it's scummy owner gets no benefit.

Just seen an update on FB from an RSPCA officer that states that when they went last night the youngster from the pictures wasn't there? It's on twitter as well now and people locally are getting in contact with the media - I really hope something can be done.

Yet another fail by the RSPCA.

amy.clements@bhs.org.uk is the Yorkshire Regional Manager for the BHS Welfare. I have emailed her just now, and copied the link to this thread on the forum to her. If others contact her too, then maybe something will get done .....

Below is response from the regional manager of BHS Welfare ........ to be honest, its pathetic !! As you can see she has included her phone number in there, so anyone who knows differently please give her a call and let her know that the RSPCA are doing nothing to help ! All these charities that people give money to who 'claim' to be there when an animal is need are a bunch of cowboys .... it makes me so cross, they just take our money and run !!

I believe that this is being dealt with by the RSPCA and the police. I'm afraid I don't have any further information.

Kind regards,

Amy Clements

there is something odd about this ... if you read the thread of the person who originally posted the pictures, there is a comment in there that this foal was rescued and then died in January ... and the thread on her page has gone very quiet ....

I read this as well, although following the post on the FB account about 'Chancer' having been rescued and pts there are still several posts offering to buy/rehome/rescue this poor foal. Totally confusing, especially as some say the photos were only taken a couple of days ago

Response from H&H News desk below who have contacted the RSPCA about the situation ......

"We've spoken to the RSPCA and they've been to the site a few times, most recently yesterday, and they didn't see this foal or any horse in a similar situation.

They say they've got "serious concerns", are investigating and "doing all we can to help these horses".

We will be reporting on it, and keeping up to date with the RSPCA so we know how the investigation is going, and any developments/updates will be covered".

well done for getting a response that relates to the situation and actually gives information. lets hope the rspca really are doing something although I think even if they were not the media coverage will get them going :(

It is all a bit strange though. The RSPCA originally said they has seen foal and advised bit not to be left in too long. I hope the original poster hasn't just re posted an old picture. Well done for getting the RSPCA to act.

No, the RSPCA didn't say that. That was people on FB saying that the RSPCA had said that. All the RSPCA have said is that the foal wasn't there.

if you go to the link to the original thread Dawn Kerick Noble page a Lisa Ann Watkins posts " Our charity rescued this guy on xmas day...........................Chancer died a few days later and the other horses in the field have vanished....."
