Pointless post really just feeling so down :( feel like Im not going to cope with out him....

Owner text Monday demanding she has him back Saturday at 10am , contract says she can ask for him back with immediate (sp?) effect. She knows I work all day every Saturday. I have begged and pleaded that she takes him Sunday, offered to pay for his transports but no

Any way sorry for the moan, Ive just had enough

Ah that sounds pretty heartless to me. When I loaned out a horse I promised never to take it back come spring after the loanee had had the winter costs and work and to give a few months notice. No doubt the loaner will have welcomed you loving her horse and nuturing it, so of course you would be upset when it is taken back. <<<Hugs>>>>> I feel for you!

Thank you :) she's only seen him 3 times in 3 years. I asked to have a handover meeting because he his a different horse from when she had him. Ive done so much work on him

Oh that's rough :(
My 2 that are out on loan say that for them to come ba k to me or for me to take them back is 30 days from written notice, unless Ifeel their welfare is at risk then I can take them with no notice.

i know how you feel, my current loan horse has just been sold and is going to be a little girls first horse lol. i got an email wanting said horse back at the end of the month. ive had this horse for well over a year and have been working with her for the past 6 ( i didnt even get first refusal), we've come on leaps and bounds but she is far from being suitable for a kiddie to ride- shes very strong and mareish. it really is heartbreaking but i guess thats the down side of loaning a horse :( hope you get something else sorted, it will work out - or at least thats what im telling myself lol :D

Thank you so much, im trying to keep my chin up but I got him when I lost my boy after 13 years. He the first and only horse I have trusted since, I just feel sick

Oh my word what a horrendous bombshell and a dreadful way to behave towards you (and her horse) after three years. I am so sorry she can be so heartless xxx

Thank you every one, it just knowing I will never see him again because I know she wont keep intouch if she wont even take him on a day I ca be there x

Do you have a copy of the contract and is it signed and dated by each person and each of the signatures witnessed by another person?

I would suggest that the contract you have with the owner would not stand up in court. I would strongy recommend that you get advice from a specialist Equine Solicitor.

If you are a 'Gold Member' of the BHS then you get free legal advice.

Next time you loan a horse get the contract checked over by a solicitor before you sign the contract.

I know it's hard, but try to be grateful for the time you've had together and feel blessed to have shared so much with your loan horse, rather than focusing on his owner taking him back. There are lots of horses in the world that need, want and deserve love and time: the right one will find you if you don't find it first 80) *hugs*

Thanks everyone ........ellies_mum2 there's limited spaces where she is taking him or something :((( and I know u will have to come meet my little man xx

He's packed and ready to go for tomorow morning......numerous bottle of gin needed this weekend. Thank you everyone for your kind posts x

He means so much to her she's seen him 3 times in 3 years? Seems odd. I know when you loan out it's tough & sometime better to keep your distance, but you'd think after a year she's be coping well enough to come over & see him a bit more than that.

You've done your best by him, now your hands are legally tied. Maybe she picked the saturday to avoid seeing your tears & upset. Either she doesn't want to be in a situation whre you ask her questions (such as why), or is guilty about what she is doing & seeing your pain would make it harder.

I loaned a horse for 2 years, an elderly pb arab (19 when I first got her). Owner got made redundant, & I knew she'd advertised the girl for sale before I took her on. Only reply was from a meat man, thankfully she declined his offer. So when I knew her finances wold be tough, I asked to by the mare, & the owner was genuine enough to agree to the sale. Wonderful mare, great teacher for me & a superb companion. Lost aged 29 to a stroke, & worth every penny.

That is heartless of the owner :( can't see any reason why they couldn't have waited til sunday at least, or given you a little bit of notice

Only *very slight* positive is that at least you won't have weeks and weeks leading up to him going I suppose (if you know what I mean). But so sorry the owner wouldn't sell to you, that's a real shame

Def get the gin bottle ready (or vodka, it makes you less depressed than gin I'm told)

oh no how horrible :( My thoughts go out to you at the weekend. And good luck going to work tomorrow- I know i'd be a complete mess.

I almost had to go through this 2 years ago but luckily the owner let me buy mine. The 4 days where I thought he'd have to go were unbelievably heart breaking.

I know we should never get that attached when we know they aren't ours but its not exactly something you can control, espicially after 3 years!

Thinking of you

So sorry for you, absolutely horrible. Sounds like they've chosen Sunday to avoid any dramas, without giving any thought to your feelings.

Could you leave a letter for them? Put in it how much this horse means to you and tell them about all the things you have done together. Stay neutral, non-confrontational. Ask if it's ok for you to stay in touch as you'd really love to hear how he is. Keep the doors open...you never know.

That will come round quicker than you imagine I reckon ;)

Big hugs for tomorrow :) x

Thank you so much and yes I hope it will, hes a really cutie I cant wait! x
